I realize throughout my read of this story, there’s one word that has popped up in my head a lot of times: despite. Despite a bit lacking in comedic elements (to me at least), it still managed to hook me in. Despite a rather sudden tone shift with the second half of the story, it’s still keeping a consistent and logical flow throughout. And now, despite the ending itself being a bit too “punchy” from what I expected (I think it would have been better if you had given us more details on how Caramello was “resurrected”), it’s still a satisfying conclusion to the story. Now, don’t get me wrong; all those example don’t imply that this story is bad. On the contrary, it just shows how good your writing quality is, when it managed to convince me to stay through until the very end despite all I said. And for the record, I’m very biased towards comedy in romcom.
All in all, this has been a wonderful ride from start to finish. An entry that I think everyone should at least pick up and try a few chapters out, if not read the whole thing through, for how distinct it is compared to the rest within the prompt.
