Momentie

Hi there,
This is the former home of my fiction - Unfortunately from drama, to a lack of innovation - To bugs that made the site unusable to me - My books are no longer being hosted here on here.

This in mind I'm leaving this note here to let people with an interest know you can find all my works in updated versions over on RoyalRoad & ScribbleHub - With plans for other releases yet to come.

For more info you can check out the final chapters of either 'UnderCurrent' or 'The Girl He Used to Know' - Which both depict my odd journey with this website😅.
HoneyFeed had its merits, it got me some feedback & I made some good friends here - But it is in effect the training wheels of web-noveling sites - If you are even slightly serious about your art or simply want a website that will teach you proper formatting & has an actual userbase - Then do yourself a favour, take off the training wheels & seek out the website that is right for you😊.

Best Regards,
-Momentie

    Oh sure thing.

My main concern was the gatling cannon being available technology widely which in turn inherently makes swordplay irrelevant if not addressed.
((The Nemidus would be fine because of their supernatural abilities)) but the castle guards like Colton and Co would suddenly seem a bit hard to believe.

That's not to say the swords would seize their relevance or anything.
The Halo franchise uses a handful of traditionalist weapons, however it usually ties such weapons to status, honour, or desperation - In much the same way that Japanese Military officers often carried family swords during WW2 - Those swords might get used, but primarily they'd be relying on guns, with the swords as more of a moral based status symbol.

    __
There are other exceptions - The inception of the musket & Flintlocks is a good example, its massive reload time and general inaccuracy (Ala the saying; "'Don't fire until you can see the whites in their eyes'"), made it so most battles still involved charging at one another and what not.

    __
No I guess my worry here was the idea that guns would be available and people simply choose not to use them if ya get me.
As stated, the idea these mercinerys have a few as a sort of curiosity or rarity is totally cool but if it was the case that only some kingdom had guns - Then that would strain suspension of disbelief.
(Note; I mean that only one Kingdom choses to have them - Obviously the first kingdom to make them will be the only one for a time😅😅).

Ergo, WW2 America 'invents' the nuclear missile first and suddenly they are the dominant superpower in the world, no question of this - Immediately all other countries of influence began accelerating their existing nuclear programmes, or starting their own research into following suit - Russia catches up to America, etc etc, balance of power restored, Cold war, etc etc.

    __
(Sorry if this is all very rambly😅) - To conclude, swords and whatnot in a world with guns, is fine. Halo does it well, Star wars does it stylistically, Dune creates reasons for daggers to overpowered, etc etc.

However you risk losing your audience's believability if the presence of guns is not something everyone takes seriously. The most talented swordsmen of all time, must still be worry about the fact a bullet or even musket round between the eyes will kill him/her instantly.

Many anime handle this differently, some use guns to show how strong their super natural heros are (HunterXHunter or the Index Franchise for example).

Main thing is that you have an answer already thought of, that if anything makes the worldbuilding more interest. If you didn't have that the issue would be that it would in essence be a 'worldbuilding plot hole' of sorts.

I hope some of that gambled mess makes sense lol😅🤣.

I was nice on the last comment which is good, cause now Amma be a whiny bitch again, sorry in advance😅😅.

Once more we have wierd ranks.
Companies aren't small and defo ain't commanded by NCOs like Sargent's....becuase Sargent's are NCOs - They are not officers, they do not lead things in this sense. Like ya they Tottally do all the real work on the battlefield (ala stories like halo) but they don't command stuff on paper, they rank lower then middle management - If Major is your regional officer head, then Sargent is the guy who manages delivers into the warehouse, lays mouse traps and takes out the bins - Ya get me?

Simple solution, call it a 'fireteam' or a 'unit' or a name of your own devising that might actually be believably under a Sargent's
    or NCOs control.

See why this matters as more then a nitpick is the prevalence of the military in this book.
You got the world's native militrys (ergo this and the last chapter) but also the huge TOAL aspect.
Yet as a reader it feels like you didn't even put a seconds thought into your ranks and organisational ya know?

When Toal is such a big part, then your world building is damaged by just how shallow they are.

Iceberg effect - No one expects you to know military law off by heart, however if they'res going to be frequent focus on various militarys, medieval and futuristic - Them you should do a quick goggle search.

'What is a military company?' - Bomb five seconds and you improve your world-building, remove a nick pick and prevent anyone who actually knows what it means, from having their immersion shattered.

And we have another case of completely pointless scences.

Two chapters ago you set up the issue of crossing no man's land.
Last chapter we make plan and insert into the local army.

This chapter, we get fuck all detail and by all accounts it seems like our duo just kinda walk for a lil bit?

Like where's the framing man? Honestly the chapter makes it sound like the sewers were a five minute march away.

But even if they weren't it's a pointless scene.
I learn nothing about the duo, other then Neithra countinueing to be more devious when talking to the secatary last chapter - That's it, what other purpose does any of this this serve?

You'd be much better off just having rugul tell them the plan and then cut to the sewer entrance.

I guess you could also do a really cool atmosphere piece about them crossing no man's land - Or have it be a few days of hiking with the army, getting to know them etc, only for them to get brutally wiped out in a sudden ending battle, raising the steaks and threat level of the enemy and finally giving us some named causalities.

Shed yourself of the filler fat!!

    __
Lol, sorry if any of that was harsh but these small issues keep coming up again and again, so it feels important to address 😊😊👍👍.
