Hi there,
This is the former home of my fiction - Unfortunately from drama, to a lack of innovation - To bugs that made the site unusable to me - My books are no longer being hosted here on here.

This in mind I'm leaving this note here to let people with an interest know you can find all my works in updated versions over on RoyalRoad & ScribbleHub - With plans for other releases yet to come.

For more info you can check out the final chapters of either 'UnderCurrent' or 'The Girl He Used to Know' - Which both depict my odd journey with this website๐Ÿ˜….
HoneyFeed had its merits, it got me some feedback & I made some good friends here - But it is in effect the training wheels of web-noveling sites - If you are even slightly serious about your art or simply want a website that will teach you proper formatting & has an actual userbase - Then do yourself a favour, take off the training wheels & seek out the website that is right for you๐Ÿ˜Š.

Best Regards,
-Momentie

Ok well maybe a few notes but I'll refrain from reiterating the military stuff from my other previous comments๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚.

    __
So few large issues stem from a complete and utter lack of descriptions.
What are our army wearing? Are they mostly young, old, a mix? Male or Female or every gender?

    What's the terrain?
This one's important as what were given makes it sound like you have:
ironheart fortress - A massive valley - Darklord castle.

You don't describe the topography at all - Is it plains, desserts, rocky outcrops?
Why is there a sizable valley exactly?
How does the cavilry deal with this clearly steep incline?
(horses with heavyily armoured men, ain't so good at climbing up hills).

    Then we have the archers.
They are simply '"in the back"' - Am I to believe they are litterally standing behind the main force? What are they doing, aiming into the air blindly? I mean archers can do that but it's a lot more complicated then that๐Ÿ˜….

Also these are presumably military grade long bow archers, there range will be miles, so the line on 'being out of range' is either wrong or the valley is incredibly wide๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚.

Why are there no siege machines? Is that a lore relevant thing, like the terrain is too unsuitable or has the taint prevented their very invention?

So many obvious questions, so much broken immersion๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜….

    __
.....Grrrrr why do you use 'Sargent's' as tho it were a placeholder term for 'officers'.
When have you ever heard of a 'Calvary Sargent in command' man?
'Cavalry Officers', that's what there always called in books and movies becuase generally cavalry comes from posh kids with money for....well a horse.
Sargents are litterally in no culture ever, officers.
Heck think of the police, Sargent is the rank below inspector.
Oh wait, damn, I said I wouldn't complain about the rank again๐Ÿ˜…, my bad ๐Ÿ˜‚.

    __
Ummmm so yaaaaaaa. I still quiet liked this chapter but your lack of knowledge of basic military principals does show to an almost embarrassing degree (Thing like archers, the incredibly small army and 'Sargent' as a catchall term - Aren't even things you need to be a military nerd to know, their borderline common sense๐Ÿ˜…)

    - And more importantly your writing slips a bit in general - Not describing appearences or the envoirment or even what the front of the enemy castle looks like, is all just basic writing fails.

Most of all I have one question above all else - Are we just meant to presume the enemy force is human?

I honestly though only the dark lords spy's were human... becuase they're spy's/infliteators/assassins.

I thought his forces would be koblads or orcs or lizard people(like the fake general) or a combination of races but to be honest, this chapter is so vague I honestly ammn't sure theres anything to indicate the enemy race or appearence, at all๐Ÿ˜….

Hopefully the spy master confrontation/battle will play more to your writing strengths - looking forward to reading it๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘.

    Reviewwwwwwwwww time lol;

Over all I think this is a pretty great read - As a novella it tackles multiple plots but in a way that stays easy enough to follow along.

It's got a nice sense of humour and generally fun, somewhat 'anime-goffy' characters๐Ÿ˜Š.

    __
Negatives would be certain areas where it is a little superfluous.

The Endo plot line seems kinda pointless and we don't get to know him.
Further Takeda and Hymiya feel under utilised all told.

Finally theres the structure - Others might disagree with me here but for me, you spent something like 3/4ths of this book.....not in the dungeon ๐Ÿ˜… - Causing the cover and name to feel arbritary - Not a massive issue but I'd personally add more to the dungeon on future drafts, maybe make it more of an expeition, they could even camp or have a scene running from the beast-robber before they get split up, better setting up that threat in the process๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜Š.

    __
Alas novellas are prone to flipancy - Ergo Hymomis dad causally commits suicide, with no real conclusion on weather that is inadvertently Keisukes/his Uncles fault or not. (Did someone plant stuff on her dad/in the bank vault or was he just shit at his job? - And morally what's the stance of the book here? A life lost is a life lost at the end of the day.)

Also was the foremen Endo's dad or his dad's boss?
Either way, again you got a fairly big moment but we don't even learn how Endo feels about it ( To be honest, Endo could be cut by simply having someone else provide the map and having Takada get lost/ring the police๐Ÿ˜…).

    __
The iseaki stuff is neat enough, I'm not entirely sure what it adds to the story thematically - Is it meant to be about retribution and forgiveness? If so how does that connect to say the Hiyomi, Endo or bank robber plots?
(Themes & subtext in general are a bit sparse)

I think your prose is good, your characters colourful if shallow in places.
The mysterious are mostly obvious but the twists do take you by surprise!

All in all I think this was a great read and I'll look foward to seeing what you do next๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘.

((P.S. uncle is the best thing ever, total best boi right there๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚))

    Oh sure thing.

My main concern was the gatling cannon being available technology widely which in turn inherently makes swordplay irrelevant if not addressed.
((The Nemidus would be fine because of their supernatural abilities)) but the castle guards like Colton and Co would suddenly seem a bit hard to believe.

That's not to say the swords would seize their relevance or anything.
The Halo franchise uses a handful of traditionalist weapons, however it usually ties such weapons to status, honour, or desperation - In much the same way that Japanese Military officers often carried family swords during WW2 - Those swords might get used, but primarily they'd be relying on guns, with the swords as more of a moral based status symbol.

    __
There are other exceptions - The inception of the musket & Flintlocks is a good example, its massive reload time and general inaccuracy (Ala the saying; "'Don't fire until you can see the whites in their eyes'"), made it so most battles still involved charging at one another and what not.

    __
No I guess my worry here was the idea that guns would be available and people simply choose not to use them if ya get me.
As stated, the idea these mercinerys have a few as a sort of curiosity or rarity is totally cool but if it was the case that only some kingdom had guns - Then that would strain suspension of disbelief.
(Note; I mean that only one Kingdom choses to have them - Obviously the first kingdom to make them will be the only one for a time๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…).

Ergo, WW2 America 'invents' the nuclear missile first and suddenly they are the dominant superpower in the world, no question of this - Immediately all other countries of influence began accelerating their existing nuclear programmes, or starting their own research into following suit - Russia catches up to America, etc etc, balance of power restored, Cold war, etc etc.

    __
(Sorry if this is all very rambly๐Ÿ˜…) - To conclude, swords and whatnot in a world with guns, is fine. Halo does it well, Star wars does it stylistically, Dune creates reasons for daggers to overpowered, etc etc.

However you risk losing your audience's believability if the presence of guns is not something everyone takes seriously. The most talented swordsmen of all time, must still be worry about the fact a bullet or even musket round between the eyes will kill him/her instantly.

Many anime handle this differently, some use guns to show how strong their super natural heros are (HunterXHunter or the Index Franchise for example).

Main thing is that you have an answer already thought of, that if anything makes the worldbuilding more interest. If you didn't have that the issue would be that it would in essence be a 'worldbuilding plot hole' of sorts.

    __
I hope some of that gambled mess makes sense lol๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿคฃ.
