Well that sure was an ending. Cold, but logical. Though there was a big gap between when I first read this and when I came back to finish it, I do think the story was good. It was short, and had some nice beats in it. Now that the contest for this is long over, I can see why you felt this worked better with harmonious future, considering practically every entry in the category had some dystopian undertones. Vibe-wise though, it did feel more in the alt-history category. Nonetheless, even though you didn't win, you finished in time and wrote something good. I'm glad I was finally able to read it all the way through.
